A Japanese Skincare Retreat in the Heart of Ho Chi Minh City
Nestled amid the bustling streets of Ho Chi Minh City, we stumbled upon a hidden gem, the MAYU Japanese Esthetic Spa, tucked discreetly on 25/4 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street. Stepping through its gate was akin to entering a sanctuary of serenity, away from the busy city streets outside.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in an ambiance of tranquillity. The staff welcomed us with a cup of herbal tea in their elegant waiting area and gave us slippers, setting the tone for the pampering experience ahead.
A staff member consulted and guided us through the array of treatments offered and provided personal recommendations based on our concerns. I was recommended the ‘Facial Detox’ and ‘Aqua Peel (AHA + BHA)’.
After a brief waiting period, we were led upstairs to a dimly lit treatment room with two tables with a screen between. The therapists asked us to remove our tops- as the treatment would cover not only the face, but also the neck and shoulders- and lie down. They began with a relaxing facial massage- so relaxing that I heard my aunt snoring shortly after they began!
The treatment itself was therapeatic and thorough, beginning with an invigorating facial massage. Therapist gently followed this with a series of meticulous cleansing steps before exfoliating adding a chemical peel, soon followed by a series of hydrating serums that left my skin feeling revitalised with a sensation of plumpness. To finish, we were given a neck and shoulder massage to round out the experience.
After the treatment, we returned to the waiting area, where another round of herbal tea awaited us. We were lucky enough to be visiting during their celebratory birthday month of November, as they generously offered a 40% discount on all treatments. The added excitement of spinning a wheel for prizes resulted in my winning a charming Japanese tea set, a fitting memento of the exquisite experience.
Unexpected Turns: Surprises at MAYU Japanese Esthetic Spa
After winning a charming Japanese tea set, an unforeseen incident added a twist to our day.
My aunt, lucky enough to secure a đ2 million voucher, immediately scheduled another treatment for later that day. Unfortunately, the building experienced a power outage halfway through her session. The staff at MAYU immediately took care of things and arranged transportation to transfer her to their new location in District 2, ensuring the completion of her treatment without further ado.
Unfortunately I had already left before my aunt began her treatment and didn’t get to see the new site for myself!
For anyone seeking not just skincare indulgence but a genuinely caring and attentive spa experience, I would definitely recommend MAYU Japanese Esthetic Spa, and I hope to experience the new location next time I visit Vietnam!
